So today at work I couldn’t work out what I wanted to eat. I knew I had chicken and chorizo in the fridge and I knew I wanted to try something new. Then I thought TAPAS! What’s better than a few little dishes to satisfy all your cravings, especially when you can’t decide what you fancy. Here are my recipes for tonight’s tapas menu of:

Chicken with honey and mustard dip

Garlic prawns


Chorizo in red wine


Chicken with honey and mustard dip


200g diced chicken breast

2 eggs

Plain flour (gluten free)

6tbsp honey

2tbsp wholegrain mustard

1tsp soy sauce


  1. Whisk eggs in a bowl.
  2. Dip chicken in egg and coat in flour.
  3. Repeat for all pieces.
  4. Add to a hot pan and golden brown on each side.
  5. Finish cooking in oven at 200c.
  6. Meanwhile, mix honey, mustard and soy sauce in a bowl.
  7. Drizzle a small amount of the sauce on chicken during last 5 minutes of cooking time. The rest can be placed in a small serving bowl.



Garlic prawns


300g fresh uncooked prawns, peeled

4 garlic cloves, crushed

20ml olive oil

2 tbsp. chilli flakes


  1. Put all ingredients into a bowl and let marinate while other dishes are cooking.
  2. Put prawns into ovenproof dish and cook for 3-5 mins, or until prawns have turned pink.



100g lean beef mince

2tbsp mixed Italian herbs

400g tinned tomatoes

4 tbsp. oregano

Half an onion, diced

1 garlic clove, crushed

Salt and pepper


  1. Combine mince meat and herbs and make sure well mixed. Roll into small balls.
  2. Lightly fry onion and garlic in a saucepan on a low heat until softened.
  3. Add meatballs and let brown on all sides.
  4. Add in tomatoes, oregano, sat and pepper.
  5. Let simmer for 15 mins.



Chorizo in red wine


400g chorizo, sliced

Half an onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, crushed

175ml red wine (I used a Spanish Rioja)


  1. Lightly fry onion and garlic in a pan until soft.
  2. Add in chorizo and let look until juices start to run out.
  3. Add red wine and let simmer for 5  mins.
  4. Put into an oven dish and let cook in oven for 15 mins.

Once all are cooked, put each dish in a serving bowl and serve with bread (I used sourdough-you can get gluten free in Sainsbury’s!)
